  • Sony UK Asking For Rolly Feedback

RikkiRok in the forums is doing a presentation to Sony UK on whether to bring the Rolly to the UK... He's looking for feedback, so let him know in the forums!

Listen everyone - I am putting together a presentation for SONY UK and want to put in it as much news and info as possible and really would love your opinions

if you have a valid point both good and bad then let me hear it as it will go to SONY UK for them to establish if ROLLY will come into the UK and if it will be worthwhile spending on it if it does.

  • Use Your Rolly as an Alarm Clock

Reska's wife helped him figure out how to enable the Rolly's Alarm Clock features - way cool!

My wife is Japanese and she walked me though the motion editor which creates the Rolly.ini file depending on what options you select.  For example some of the features the rolly supports is an alarm clock as well as the VOLRESET and other such fun features.  Here is my Rolly.ini file which I setup with motion editor.

    SOUND 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
    VOLRESET 1
    BTMODE 0
    SCMST 0
    WAKEUP 1 00:10 15 1

I am still trying to figure out what the other options are but here is a breakdown of the WakeUp:

WAKEUP [bool on/off] [Time for WAKEUP] [Track number to play] [bool play song once]

[bool on/off] = 1 turns on the alarm feature, setting this to 0 turns it off.

[Time for WAKEUP] = The 00:10 is the time the alarm will go off.  This is based on a 24 hour clock.

[Track number to play]  = This is the track number of the song on the rolly.  Motion editor will display this correctly but sonic stage does not.

[bool play song once] = 1 means play this track once.  If you set this to 0 it will repeat the track over and over and over.....

Don't forget to check out the forums and see what else you can do, or share your finds and ideas!

  • Play Music Via Bluetooth - And Make Your Rolly Dance! No Motion Editor Needed!

Good news! I've posted a tutorial on playing music with your Rolly without needing SonicStage or the Motion Editor software or the Japanese version of Windows. This works with both Windows and Mac!

Check it out in the forums!

The folks from the Rolly team have been very helpful!

If you have feedback, suggestions, and so forth, please post them here so we can get the feedback to them!

  • It's Official - Rolly Coming to U.S. - In White, BLACK, and ... Possibly... Pink???

Sony has officially announced the Rolly is coming to the U.S.! The announcement was made to great fanfare (a.k.a. the press and I) at Sony's press conference at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. I have a whole video of the press conference, as well as the Rolly display at Sony's booth, but my Internet connection isn't great right now, so sorry for the delay in getting this post up. 250,000 people all trying to connect at once is, well, a challenge :)

A few notes about the "new" Rolly:

    • It will be released in Spring 2008
    • It will come with 2 gigabytes of flash instead of 1.
    • Two colors will be available: white, and a limited edition Black. They also displayed a prototype pink player at the show.
    • You will be able to drag and drop MP3 and ATRAC3+ (Sony's format) music directly onto the device. SonicStage will no longer be necessary!
    • The team bringing it over here is awesome and very, very committed to the product. Let's give them great feedback on the forums!!!

Happy New Year, and I'll get those photos and video up today!
