Tutorial on Using Downloaded Motion Files On Your Rolly

I didn't see super simple instructions on Sony's site, so here's how you register a motion file on your Rolly:
    1. Download the motion file
    2. Drag the MP3 to your Rolly if you haven't done so already
    3. Open Rolly Choreographer
    4. Plug in your Rolly
    5. Right click the song on your Rolly and click "Register Motion File"
    6. Select the motion file you want to use
      1. If you don't see the motion file, you may need to add the .mtf file extension.
    7. You're Done!

NOTE: You may be asked to save any motion already associated with the song. If so, and you've spent any considerable time on making the motions for the song, I recommend you save the motion somewhere on your computer in case you want to change back to the motions you created. Just follow the same process I just outlined, but using your own motion file.

    Enjoy!

    Best,

    -Auri

Do you download and use files from Sony's Rolly Go site?

Do you connect to Sony's own Rolly Go site and download motion files?

Re: Tutorial on Using Downloaded Motion Files On Your Rolly

     Thanks for the tutorial.

I didn't realize that the choreography is actually embedded within the mp3 file. In my limited experience, this increases the file size by about 500kb. My main concern is that since the mp3 format is lossy, any sort of modification to such a file can degrade its sound quality.

These two drawbacks are somewhat irrelevant for the purpose of using the files on the Rolly. However, I use a copy instead of the original mp3 file.

     It's something to consider.

It actually wouldn'tt affect the MP3 at all. The data would be stored in the metadata of the MP3, just like artist, album, and other song data is stored.

So, long story short, you don't need to make a backup copy of all your MP3s before changing them on the Rolly :)

You *should* back up your MP3s, of course. Most online stores won't let you download your songs again, no matter whether your hard drive crashed or not. So, make sure you back up everything that's important to you! (yeah, I know, it's a rant, but it's TRUE!)
