Make your Rolly dance continuously with this file

Are you annoyed by your Rolly only dancing for the one song and then stopping? Is your finger tired of double tapping after every song? Want your Rolly dancing all night at your party? Ok, we got it figured out!

    Here's what you do:

    1. Connect your Rolly to your PC via USB.

    2. Download the DEMO.ZIP file and unzip it.

    3. Copy the DEMO.INI file from the ZIP file into the RSF folder on your Rolly. You'll also see a Rolly.ini file in that folder, although you might not see the .ini part on some systems. No worries!

    4. Unplug your Rolly from your PC.

    5. Start your Rolly dancing and it won't stop until you tap it again!

    6. Party like a rock star!

This hack does not affect any other Rolly functionality based on my limited testing. If you want to disable the new functionality, simply delete the DEMO.ini file.

Enjoy! Please let me know what you think!

    Best,

    -Auri

    Auri,

I just saw your post and wanted to try out your demo.ini file, but the link is broken :-(

If you want, you can post the contents of the file in the body of a message, rather than in an attached file.

Anyway, how did you figure it out, assuming it works ;-)  ?

    Wow,

    That IS odd!

I've fixed it, so try the link again. Apparently I have my Web server configured not to not serve .INI files. Whoops!

Regarding how I figured it out... I'd rather not say on my forums :) Feel free to ping me online, though.

    Auri,

The new link   http://myrolly.net/downloads/DEMO.zip   appears to be broken as well :-(

As for how you stumbled upon this workaround... was it you in another post who said that the Rolly being demo'd at a Sony store was in a continuous choreography mode. If so, I bet that you "borrowed" that Rolly and discovered its hidden secret :-P

Man that's annoying... I just added it back. I don't know how it got deleted... very odd.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Re: Make your Rolly dance continuously with this file

Also, in case the file disappears again for some strange reason, here's the info:

    1. Create a file named DEMO.ini in your Rolly's RSF folder.

    2. Put the following text in the file and save it.

    DEMO=2
    REPEAT=2

    3. Disconnect your Rolly and Enjoy! :)

     Auri,

    Thanks!

I'll give it a try a bit later, and report back.

Did you see what happens when you set the flags to different values; 0 or 1?

It's funny - I've had a very busy week, so I haven't played with the settings much. Try it and please let me know! :)

Re: Make your Rolly dance continuously with this file

    Initial results:

This additional ini file, demo.ini, with the settings above does indeed enable continuous dancing. NICE!

At first it looked like the bluetooth mode had stopped working when the demo.ini file was present, but after testing it a second time, it looks like it works fine. Unfortunately, the demo.ini file with the above settings does not enable indefinite dancing for songs played over bluetooth. The dancing still terminates after about 7 minutes in bluetooth mode, which means it goes for about a song and a half before sitting still.

Next up... trying different settings in the demo.ini file.

    Good work, Auri!!!

I am assuming this is an American Rolly only hack or is there a solution for the Japanese version?

     Many Thanks

I have only tested this on the U.S. Rolly. See if running the 1.01 firmware for the Japanese Rolly makes it keep dancing with the mod... I definitely would like to spend a bit more time testing on the Japanese Rolly :)
