Re: Make your Rolly dance continuously with this file

Just change your file name from demo.ini to debug.ini and put it in the main folder of your Rolly. Use flag Repeat=0 Dem0=1 in your setting

Hi, Auri, I've got an original Jap version & I cannot find a RSF folder or a ROLLY.ini file. I've also searched it with XP search & that couldn't find it. Can you tell me exactly how to find it.

    Many thanks

    Albertsdad.

Do you have Windows XP set up to show hidden files and folders? Also, do you have it set up to show extensions for known file types? Knowing that will help me help you :)

Re: Make your Rolly dance continuously with this file

I think you should forget about RSF or Rolly.ini in Jpn version of Rolly. There is no such folder or file in Jpn version. But you still can make your J Rolly continuous dance, you just create a demo.ini file using your NotePad and put it in your Rolly main folder.

    1)Run NotePad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->NotePad)

2)Write the following in the NotePad: Repeat=0 Demo=1

    3)Save the file as demo.ini

4)Transfer this file in your Rolly main folder

Unplug your Rolly from USB & let it dance. Let us know whether it works.

Re: Make your Rolly dance continuously with this file

Hello RMaker thanks for your reply, I'm not too good with computers, so please bear with me on this, I can follow steps 1 & 2  ok, but how do I save it as a demo.ini? The computer saves it only as demo,  ignoring the INI,  the  file type is *txt which I've changed to "all files" & the encoding is ANSI. I am then left with a symbol of a notepad with a cog wheel on it. This I have copied onto Rolly but it doesn't make it dance continuously.

    Have I gone wrong somewhere?

    thanks for your patience.

Re: Make your Rolly dance continuously with this file

You probably have Windows Explorer set up wrong...

    1. In a Windows Explorer window, go to Tools -> Folder Options

    2. Click the View tab.

    3. Uncheck the box for Hide extensions for known file types

    4. Click OK.

    5. You should now be able to remove the .txt extension from the rolly.ini.txt file you created.

    I hope that helps!

    Best,

    -Auri

Re: Make your Rolly dance continuously with this file

When you see your file icon come with a symbol of a notepad with a cog wheel on it, it should be the correct one. But if it still can't work, maybe you can change the file name into debug.ini. And this is my last piece of advice for you, if it still don't work, then I'm out of idea too.

As far as i know, J version Rolly only work in J version windows (or maybe English version windows with Japanese setting, im not sure). So I guess your pc might be either J version window or with J setting. I don't know whether the .ini file got anything to do with window version during creating, so you may try around with diff windows.

Hello RMaker, I've tried all you suggested, but  it still won't dance continuously. I have been told from another source that the Jap version can't be tweaked, so I'll have to live with it.

    Again, thanks for your help

Auri, thanks for your assistance, but it still won't dance continuously, so I'll have to accept it.

Re: Make your Rolly dance continuously with this file

Because dancing Rolly is a moving object, if you left it continuous dance on your table, it may fall from the edge sooner or later, unless you keep on eyes on it all the time. That's why the designer want to limit it in one song only. But as far as I know they will make it continuous dance during design period, because they need to do plenty of measurement such as battery lifetime during dancing mode. And that's why we have these debug.ini, demo.ini, etc... come into the picture. However, if they delete this command in the customer version of Rolly, then there is nothing we can do. As what you said, you only can live with it. Sorry i can't help.

This is working on my Rolly as far as I can tell.  Thanks Auri  - it's understandable that they are thinking of damage to Rolly but to have to keep double clicking is madness.

Re: Make your Rolly dance continuously with this file

After several unsuccessful attempts, it finally worked on my Japanese Rolly! ^_^  It's sooooooooo AWESOME!!!  This is what I did:

    1. Open up NotePad.  If you don't know how to access notepad, go to Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad.

    2. On the first line, type in REPEAT=0

On the second line, type in in DEMO=1

    3. Save as demo.ini

    4. Plug in your Rolly

    5. Go to Start->Computer->SEP and transfer that demo.ini file to that folder. Just click the file and drag it to that SEP folder.  You should also be able to see a file named Rolly.ini and a folder named OMGAUDIO inside the SEP/ Rolly main folder.

Note: SEP is the folder name of the Rolly main folder.  Well...that's how it shows on mine. I'm not sure if it will be named the same on your computer but you should be able to figure it out by clicking each folder and seeing what files are inside.

Note:  The Computer folder shows all the portable devices that are connected on to your computer, it also shows the Hard Disk Drives of your computer, for example: HP (C:).  My computer is an HP.

    6. After you've transferred the file, close the Rolly main folder and unplug your Rolly.  Your Rolly should now be able to dance continuously.

The only problem I found after inserting the demo.ini file, is that you're not able to roll the device forward or backwards to skip or go back another song 0r rase/lower the volume, because the Rolly just keeps on moving and rolling everytime a song is playing.  It just keeps on moving nonstop! I tried clicking the button twice to see if the dancing will stop, but it doesn't seem to. I can't roll the device forward or backwards to skip or go back a song while the wheels are continuously moving. Can anyone help me with this problem?
